Blitzen 16 - Rudolph 15

December 17th 2002, Antrim Forum

Once again we have come to realise that football is, in fact, supposed to be a game of two halves. Then why oh why do we only play one half... or is it one whole?! With Slayer fitness at an all time low (due to excessive turkey consumption), bottles of water were necessary to keep this game going at the lightning fast pace that has come to be the norm at the Tuesday night affair.

This was the debut of Slayer virgin Alan "Feetch" Cuthbert. He's 20-something, male and his hobbies include cooking, cleaning, knitting, talking to Betty and, of course, slaying (in both senses of the word!). Waster had graciously allowed SAS Master Mache to have The Feetchure in his team to see what he could do.

The game opened with Rudolph kicking off and moving like a reindeer with a red nose down the centre of the pitch. Alex Perks was working the ball well and making sweet passes to Jon Waster. But Blitzen played dirty and threw snow in Rudolph's eye. Pete "Santa Exists" McCausland cut through Rudolph like a butcher through a turkey and used Samwise "Elf" Brownwise well to open the scoreline with (believe it or not) a goal.

This was quickly followed by another with Feetch showing what he could do when he put his mind to it. But Rudolph kept coming back on Blitzen, not letting him get too far in front.

SP PC MAN was placed in his home town of "Nets" and quickly showed why he's becoming a keeper to reckon with. Excellent saves were made keeping Blitzen just ahead. But Waster was getting angry and decided he needed to vent it. He farted.

He also made a brilliant move, thanks to Babyface "What's Defense?" Jeff, up the right flank to score another one of his impossible goals keeping Rudolph within reach. Jeff was feeling a wee bit depressed that he hadn't scored yet so The Feetchure decided to do the decent thing and set him up.

Rudolph brought it back to all square but Blitzen wasn't to be had. With Santa's back turned, he launched the ball straight into Rudolph's key defender, Mark "Victim" Ingram. This set the dirty reindeer up to carry on and with the match.

Final reckoning by Santa was Blitzen 16 - Rudolph 15. But then again, Christmas is next week. Rudolph may come back before the Big Night...

Teams:
Blitzen: Tim, Pete, Sammy, Paul and Feetch.
Rudolph: Mark, Jonny, Raymond, Perky and Jeff.

Sparboot: Even though SP made amazing saves, this week the Boot goes to the new boy, Feetch. He didn't buckle under the pressure and showed that he has what it takes.
